A Derby Day

OK, I know it's the Cheltenham Festival this week, but we spent the day in Derby, so there. Actually, it's typical of the English aristocracy that the Earls of Derby have their family seat at Knowsley Hall, Merseyside and that the horse race, which was inaugurated by the 12th Earl, is run at Epsom.

Isn't Wikipedia a wonderful thing?

Anyway, when we woke to more wintry weather we had second thoughts about going into town today, but decided that it had sufficiently improved to just wrap up well and cope. We didn't have any major purchases in mind, it was more a case of pottering about buying this and that, like a new wallet for Sheila and a new change purse for me.

I also got some meat whilst we were in the Eagle Market and we finished the morning eating Thai noodles in the Food Court.

Back at the boat by two, we both risked dozing off, but another episode of Inspector Alleyn sufficed to keep us awake. Final Curtain featured Graham Crowden enjoying himself hamming it up as an elderly Shakespearean ac-tor.

It's been a good way of getting through another rather chilly day; hopefully things will start warming up again from here on.

Tomorrow we're dog sitting so that Elanor can stay home for Stewart Bannister to come and look at her washing machine, so I'll see if Sally can be persuaded to blog. On Thursday we're off to visit Pinelog with Lloyd and Helen.

That reminds me, someone's presented Helen with a pineapple, must nip round and lend her our pineapple coring and slicing tool...
