Blacking Day 3

We were up and about in good time today, but today's blacking is due to be done by Fred who has to turn round some boats first. At half eleven we're still waiting for him…

Could have had more of a lie in, then. We've not been idle, we've started polishing up the tiller and pins with the aim of getting them really smart and then using Incralac on them.

The delay in getting the second coat of Comastic on isn't a big deal this time, but if it happens again tomorrow, it severely reduces the time it has to dry before we come off the dock on Sunday. On the other hand, this is one of the few yards I know which does three coats, so we're ahead of the game anyway. It's just a shame we can't have Lee for all three coats, he's a great worker (not that Fred isn't when he can get here to do it, mind).

The charger finally decided it had done enough absorption on the battery bank after four and a half hours, virtually an equalisation session. I've checked the bank out - it took only a bit of topping up and there was no sign of overheating, so all seems to be well.

The forecast for Sunday and Monday looks excellent; we're looking forward to some great boating when we get away.
