Hi guys
Granny and Grandpa were moving their boat from Alrewas back to the marina today, so Mum and I went out to see that they were alright and to get a bit of boating in.
We met up with them just after they had left Dallow Lane Lock, one we know well from walking over there some evenings to do some instruction work with folk who've not met a lock before. Actually, we just go there for fun and to get some exercise in, but quite often an instruction element enters into it.
Mum says she ought to charge certain boat hire companies for the tuition she's giving their customers, but I think she's joking, really.
Anyway, when we got there the boat was stopped on the towpath with Grandpa upside down on the stern deck. He said this was called "going down the weedhatch" but I think "being too drunk to stand in the middle of the day" would be a better description.
Having got him out of the hole he was in, we set off boating back the way we'd just walked. It was a very good trip, with lots of chances for Olympic Looking, scaring mallard ducks that came too close and generally lording it over the poor mutts who were having to make do with walking along the towpath.
After a while, we got to my favourite aqueduct. Mum says that it's over the Dove, but I've never seen any doves around there. Pigeons, yes, ducks, yes, doves no way. I had a good romp around after we left the boat and I've developed a new drinking technique for use on rivers – you open your mouth into a tube and lower it into the river pointing upstream. Much better than all that lapping business, as long as you don't choke.
Met up with a few other interesting folk on the way home – I'm now crashed out with a chew. Here's a photo of me doing the Looking bit to finish:

Very perceptive Sally. I think your description of Grandpa's activity was likely to be much nearer the truth.

Well Sally, you look fabulous and your Olympic Looking technique is just perfect :-)
I hope to introduce you to Archie hound - he's one of my step-hounds and our latest blogger - I think you'd make a handsome pair....
