This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

Most of the day in Walnut
I’ll just add to Sally’s offering yesterday that the night before we had found the Boaters and Lodgers Forum a very interesting and indeed entertaining experience. It was particularly impressive that, although there were some serious issues to be raised, such as the height of two new speed bumps being dangerously excessive, all was done with good humour on both sides.
In addition, we can heartily recommend the Thai Restaurant within the Rising Sun in Willington.
Today we had to be up betimes again and had a text just on eight giving a three hour slot, 11 am to 2 pm, for the Smeg engineer to turn up. Accordingly we trotted over to the lodge at half ten or so, were able to have a chat with Pam before she went out and then settled down to wait.
Actually, Sheila took the opportunity to go into the village to the hairdresser, leaving me on guard (with the paper, naturally). On her return, we fixed some bubble decals to the shower screen in the wet room, making it more obvious to the visually disabled:
The Smeg guy made it with ten minutes to spare and then took most of an hour replacing the fan. A lot of machine screws had to be removed before he could extract the offending part and there was a brief panic after he’d apparently finished when it still wasn’t heating. It turned out that the heater cut out had tripped and all was well.
We’re looking forward to a quiet night and a more relaxed start tomorrow; the Ocado delivery isn’t due until ten.
