We take possession

My word, what a day. We started by hitting the online sites again, finishing off what we could order for delivery from Dunelm and Argos and for collection from Dunelm. As a result, we should be getting a load of stuff from Argos tomorrow, will be collecting things from the Burton Dunelm on Wednesday and are expecting two deliveries from Dunelm in the course of the next week or so.

I had a helpful call from the Burton Dunelm; despite the website showing that what we wanted was in stock (that’s why we opted for there rather than Derby) they won’t in fact be able to get it all in until Monday and Elanor’s not available to help until Weds. In that regard Argos is better than Dunelm, assuming all the stuff arrives tomorrow, but on the other hand we don’t have a delivery slot from them, just “sometime between 7 am and 8 pm” whereas Dunelm promise info by text when the delivery is on its way.

Mind you, as I say, all this depends on how matters turn out in practice. We still need to visit Wilko and Tesco, probably on Saturday, for things we couldn’t source or didn’t like the look of from the other two.

After we’d done all this, we walked round to the office and were presented with the keys. It was nearly coffee break time, so we went back to the boat for that, collected up the first tranche of stuff to take round and walked to the lodge, huddling up against a bitter wind.

We had two nice surprises when we got in there: firstly, even with the central heating just ticking over the lodge was toasty warm and secondly, a welcome pack in the form of a bottle of champagne and a big bouquet of flowers was prominent on the kitchen work surface.

It’s touches like that that make all the difference in this marina.

We’ve been pretty busy getting our heads round a mass of stuff since; running the washing machine and dishwasher empty to commission them, putting up the pictures we got from the Braidbar Charity Auction, working out how the extending dinner table works, that sort of thing.

It’s all very exciting, or would be if we weren’t so knackered!

Tomorrow, the Argos delivery, hopefully. Needing to be in there early makes an excuse to check out the shower, at least.

When I get a moment and the place is looking at least a bit organised, I’ll take some photos to put up here.

Wow, that all seems to have happened so quickly - nice to be up and running before the winter sets in for real.

Hi Bruce,
I’ve just had a look at Sheila’s crocheting and have left a note there but as we don’t follow flikr I thought I would leave a message here too.
Please can you ask Sheila for a quote for our new build? I like the modified granny buttons style and would probably order at least 2x18”.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Carol

Thanks, Sue!

Carol: an 18" doily would be £19.50 (it's £1 per inch up to 15" but £1.50 after that as the circumference gets so long). There's a p&p charge as well, but only at the actual cost; Sheila bills you when the doilies are despatched.

If you want to go ahead, please could you email me via the link on the right hand side of the blog, so's Sheila can email you in turn?

Many thanks.

Bruce
