A bit more done today

It’s been another quite lazy day, though we have got some stuff done, like buying our mid month Kindle books and printing some gift tags, and Sheila put in some volunteer time this morning weeding one of the butterfly drift beds.

First though, I should mention our turkey experience last night, which wasn’t quite what we were expecting. It seems that Gilbert’s who produced the turkey roast specialise in Kosher foods and this beast was very salted. I don’t know if that’s because of the preferences of the Kosher market or what, but it came out a bit more like a baked ham than the usual roast turkey.

Interesting and perfectly edible, just not quite what we wanted and strictly speaking too much salt for my diet. I’m sure we’ll manage to eat it all, but it’s a good job we tried it now rather than waiting for Christmas. Oh dear, this means I’ll have to order another turkey before Christmas to check it out, what a hardship. As I said yesterday, I’ve now found a greater range on the Ocado website.

Back to today: I’ve bought the new Terry Pratchett, Raising Steam, a bit before I was supposed to (the price usually comes down after a while, but I couldn’t wait) whilst Sheila has gone for another murder mystery by Nicola Upson, Angel with Two Faces.

When Elanor and Sal arrived after lunch, we took a walk round the marina and went into field three to throw a humming frisbee for Sal. It’s been a while since there’s been a field available suitable for her, that is with no sheep next door, so she really enjoyed a thorough charge about.

Back at the boat we spent a good bit of time nattering about this and that; Elanor’s now gone off to do some shopping, leaving us to potter about again. It’ll be another quiet day tomorrow, then it’s Sally-sitting Tuesday, quiz on Wednesday (team lunch and then the evening in the Willow Tree) and John and Nev on Thursday.

Looks like a good week coming up...
