Busier than expected

We were going to do some Christmas present wrapping today, but it’s the one thing we’ve not got round to. There’s an excuse: I had a phone call from the surgery early on, just as Sheila was getting ready to trim my beard, asking me to come in to see Dr Farrell, the partner who looks after us diabetics. He wasn’t happy with my high BP the other day and wanted a chat.

So we spent a bit of time at the end of the morning hanging about the nice new surgery until I got in to see him. He seems very clued up and keen to discuss things. It’s always a bit of a dilemma with GP choice; do you go for the brisk and efficient one who runs to time but may not leave you feeling you've been able to explain everything, or with the more relaxed one who gives you plenty of time but then tends to run late, especially towards the end of the morning?

In any event, it was a good encounter, as we say in the trade, and I left feeling that he was really taking an interest. I’m going to do some home monitoring for the next ten days until I have my review session with the nurse and we can decide then whether I need to think about another change of meds.

This all made for a late lunch, after which we had a brisk walk round the marina once the rain had more or less stopped. That was very pleasant; the weather is now drier but the threatened cold spell is definitely on its way. The work has actually started on the peninsula Boardwalk development, so there’s more stuff to look at, not that they are progressing very quickly.

Since then we’ve had a nice cup of tea (actually a mug of Red Bush apiece, but there you go) and mostly got on with sedentary activities like finishing off some crochet and reading the paper/doing the crossword. No prizes will be awarded for who did which…

/wahaha

Speaking of prizes, that reminds me, it will soon be time for the Canal Boat Christmas Quiz and we haven’t had our prize for last year’s winning entry yet, a bit of a record even by Mr Ludgate’s dilatory standards.

I’ll drop him an email as Elanor plans to be at the London WRG Christmas Dig...
