This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

A quick update
I’ve already done one blog today, so this is going to be a short one; after yesterday's excitements we’ve been taking it easy. A fair bit of time has been spent exploring/wrestling with the iPad and generally pottering about. This afternoon we walked to Betty’s to get some meat and to order our Christmas joint. We are going to have a sirloin wing, the ribs immediately behind the fore ribs, as an experiment.
We also had a fascinating conversation with butcher Ed about the differences between Dexter and Longhorn carcasses; Dexters are compact, Longhorns rangy and much bigger. Apparently the new butchery venture has been so successful, Calke Abbey is running out of beasts ready for slaughter, so other local sources are being used.
Since getting back to the boat we’ve been relaxing still further with a welcome cup of tea.
It’ll be busier tomorrow as I have to go to the surgery for a blood test first thing and then we’ve got an Ocado delivery arriving. Hopefully this sunny weather is going to continue, though without the strong and chilly wind we’ve had today.

Hmmmm - clearly time for an ear trumpet!! (Butcher's name is Rich -or Simon, if it was Emma's husband).
Ah, there's a thing. I was going by the name he used to log in to the tills…
The other odd thing is that he's very similar in appearance and manner to our first boat builder, Iain Bryceland, who comes from NI and was raised in Glasgow.
Cheers
Bruce
