Hardworking Saturday

It’s been a busy and productive day, with the result that it’s a real effort to type this up now…

This morning, after a decent lie in, we went round to the shop with an empty gas cylinder on the trolley and bought a full one. For once the removal and replacement went reasonably smoothly, though my gas leak detector spray was a bit reluctant to perform.

After a coffee, we sorted the bow locker, moving plant troughs and the like to the lower space and bringing up the box of salt and the canister of spray foam to improve the performance of the new chimney by spraying insulating foam between the two skins.

This last wasn’t a success, the canister having died on us since we last used it. I’ll have to get some more from Midland Chandlers, I guess.

Elanor turned up just as we were finishing lunch and we spent a good 90 minutes pressure washing our finger pontoon. Our pressure washer has a lance with spinning head, making the jet much more effective at cutting through the muck. The pontoon now looks a lot cleaner, indeed it's a different colour.

We’re keeping the washer on the boat for a week so that others in this pontoon group can borrow it to do theirs.

Finally, Elanor and I took a manic Sally to the quarry fields for a run. Sal’s just come off her sedative and was in a completely barmy mood, hurtling about with her ears out sideways at the least excuse.  She was calming down a bit by the finish, and Elanor plans to take her to Cannock Chase tomorrow to complete the process.

Tomorrow, I’ll go over to Walnut at nine whilst Sheila does the WeBS walk. Hopefully, I’ll get some photos of the new suite once it’s installed.
