A bit busier today

After a relaxed start, we had a pretty busy morning; Sheila went on her WeBS walk (the winter visitors in the shape of redwing have started to turn up at last) and I collected some material from the boat to tackle the burnt on stuff in the oven in the lodge.

This last job isn't quite finished, but I've made substantial progress. The oven has one of those fancy cleaning programmes (seems to be a Smeg thing, the washer dryer has one as well) which involves a pool of water in the bottom, spraying the sides and roof with dilute washing up liquid and then running this low temperature setting for 18 minutes. Why 18 rather than 20 or 15 I don't know.

Anyway, there are just a few stubborn spots and lines to attack now.

After lunch Elanor turned up. The weather wasn't right for sorting her stuck fence panel, being rainy and blowy, so she brought some paperwork over to us for advice on what to keep and what was safe to throw away.

She and I took Sally for a romp in the copse (sort of copse and rompers) by the canal afterwards; Sally thoroughly enjoyed herself charging about and had another go at chewing the big branch that had so impressed her last time. Elanor tried getting her to jump over an entire fallen tree; Sally cheated by standing on top of it going in both directions and then, when remonstrated with on the subject, tried chewing bits off that one as well.

Since then we've been having a family natter and planning the logistics for the run up to Christmas.

Tomorrow, I need to fetch another battery for my hearing aid from the boat and we'll have to go into the village for bread and stuff, but otherwise it's a quiet day ahead of us.
