Getting ready for Christmas

As we start approaching Christmas, we’ve been stocking up on the stuff that’s important to us, namely kindling, solid fuel, fire lighters and the like. We still need to swap a gas cylinder and we might well want to top up the water tank again before Elanor joins us on Christmas Eve.

Yesterday went very well; the audiologist was very pleased with my progress in adapting to the aid and turned the amplification up to 100% of my prescription. As a result it’s been sounding a bit odd again for the last 24 hours, but I’m adjusting to it already.

I’ve done the final amends to the Ocado order we’re having delivered on Sunday and we had lunch in the Willow Tree as we’re going out to Steve and Sal’s lodge for our first party of the season tonight and don’t want to arrive there ravenous.

I must also mention professional photographer Sheila Halsall, whom regular readers will recall took some photos of Sanity Again as we emerged from Harecastle Tunnel on our way to Poynton in August. She’s very kindly sent us a few copies of the resulting postcard; many thanks, Sheila, they look great!

Tomorrow, Elanor is coming across in the afternoon; I’ll blag a lift to Betty’s from her to collect the piece of beef I’m planning to cook on Christmas Day.

Blog posts may be a bit erratic for a few days and will then probably stop altogether between Christmas and New Year, I expect; I’m sure you lot have better things to do at this time of year than read my maunderings on…
