Whoops

Promptly forgot about blogging this morning, sorry about that. Never mind, speeds seem to be better at the moment, so I'll try and get some stuff in now...

After a fairly relaxed start, we went across to the boat to finish making up the calendar to send to sister Jane in the States, as tomorrow is the last posting date for the Land of the Free. Sheila then went volunteer weeding in the marina, the first fruit of the meeting two nights ago, whilst I went to the village all by myself.

I posted the calendar and went on to the surgery/pharmacy to pick up enough drugs to get me through Christmas; the beta blockers are particularly good for this, I find.

:))

Then back to the Co-op to get supplies for routine catering and for tomorrow night.

I was just making lunch in the lodge when Sheila got back. After a bit of a post prandial doze on my part (it's those drugs, I tell you), we went back to the boat to collect more grub and clean clothes and then walked round the marina. There's a lot of tree planting going on at the moment, it being a good time of year for forestry.

We do have some concerns about one they've put in just outside the lodge dining annexe window. It's a Chinese sorbus, specifically Vilmorin's Rowan or Chinese Mountain Ash. Since it grows to 9 metres tall eventually, with a spread of over 2.4 meters, planting it 2 metres from the lodge feels a bit close. Mind you, it does sound very attractive like so many of the decorative rowans.

The idea, we are told, is to screen us from the lodge next door and vice versa. All very well, but it's SE from the window and will block the morning sun when it's developed.

Time will tell if we're right to worry; it may be more of a problem for our heirs, I guess...

/wahaha
