Busy day

A quick catch up after a busy day:

I need new specs but Sheila doesn’t; Boots Derby were very efficient.

We had a look in Lakeland for a new roasting tin, but the one I fancied was bigger than the one I’m using now and as it is quite expensive, we left it until I could check that it would fit in the oven. It’s not non-stick, but dark grey anodised aluminium.

We’ll need to go to Derby at least twice more in the near future, once to collect the specs and once to sort some stuff with Nationwide about changes to our current account.

The boat next to us, Water Emerald, was out when we got back but returned not long after. This gave us a chance to meet her owners, Norman and Marilyn, who seem very nice indeed. They live in Lincoln, not far from where Graeme and Cathy are. The boat is a curious shape and has an interesting history; BW set out to commission the design of an eco-hull and built three of them of which Water Emerald is one.

The design was not a success, though Alvechurch Boats tried the bow on some of their hire fleet; we can remember hiring one once. In another small world phenomenon, the hull was designed in Aberdeen University, where Sheila and I met, graduated and married in that order.

Solid fuel: I’m not getting on with the Briteheat, which seems to stay in OK at first, but is picky about coming back when well burnt down, at least for me. I’m going back to Signal.
