This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

Another day, another storm
Despite the accuracy of the meteorological forecast, it’s not been a bad day from our point of view. Admittedly, Sheila had had a bit of a broken night, but since there’s been little call for vigorous activity either physically or mentally, being a little dopey hasn’t really caused a problem.
/wahaha
The serious rain was due to begin at midday here and the Ocado delivery booked for the 10 - 11 slot, so we were pleased to hear from driver Mark at twenty-five to ten. He was in the area with nothing to deliver until ten and could he see us now? Naturally, we were only too happy to oblige and by ten to ten we’d got the goodies safely within the boat.
Furthermore, we’d seen Mark already this year and so he knew the drill for parking up and getting the crates (or “totes” as Ocado persists in naming them) onto his hand truck and trundled down to us.
With all the stuff safely stowed, there was just time for a brisk walk round the marina before the storm closed in.
Since then, lurking below has been the order of the day, though Sheila’s been doing a bit of top up laundry and had to make an excursion to the facilities block to get it dried. It being the middle of the month, we’ve treated ourselves to a Kindle book each; Sheila found an omnibus edition of Daisy Dalrymple mysteries and I’m revisiting the purlieus of Blandings Castle in Full Moon.
Perusing today’s composition, it occurs to me my style has become a shade Wodehouseian. This can only be an improvement, I can hear you say.
We’ll stay battened down for most of tomorrow, but things should have improved by Sunday when we hope to see Elanor and Sally once more.
