This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

Modified plan, everything done
There was a slight change of plan today; rather than take a long way round to the village (we’d planned to go past the Nadee restaurant and round by the roads to the far side of Willington), we just did a brisk walk along the usual route. This followed on from our realisation that with the final cleaning to do to the lodge this afternoon, wearing ourselves out this morning was not a good idea.
As it was, it made for a pleasant excursion; we’ve had one of the winter's all too brief intervals of decent conditions today. The wind was cold, but that just encouraged a brisk pace.
This afternoon went entirely to plan: I cleaned and restarted the fridge freezer whilst Sheila went round with a damp duster. Then I got the Henry out and ran it over the floors before we both ventured outside to give the windows a clean.
They’ll get rained on before Saturday, of course – the forecast for tomorrow afternoon and the weekend is awful again – but it’s the thought that counts.
I’ve booked an Ocado delivery for the morning; the rain’s not due until lunchtime, so as long as the van turns up on time we should get away with it.
