Sunny Sunday break in the wet

One thing about this winter; even though we’ve had an incredible amount of rain (though we haven’t been nearly as badly affected as those poor souls in Somerset), we’ve also had very pleasant breaks in between. Today was one such, with bright sun and blue sky though still very chilly.

We managed a walk round the marina before Elanor and Sally turned up and another this afternoon. Sheila has been doing sterling work reading the details of a new insurance policy for the boat; Towergate Mardon now have a policy specially for inland watercraft with an attached contents policy. I guess the market keeps growing as living aboard continues to increase in popularity.

Surprise, surprise, it’s not quite as generous in its cover as the old one was; damage by animals and pets is no longer covered, for example. On the other hand, another exclusion doesn’t worry us too much; we’re not covered for damage whilst the boat is being transported on a roof rack…

At 22 tonnes and 70 foot, it would have to be quite a roof rack :))

Sheila took the opportunity to take some more photos of the steel framework growing on the peninsula:

The blue things on the right are the cherry pickers

They could leave it like that and market it as modern art

The latest emailed Boardwalk Bulletin from Josh in the marina office tells us that the brickies will be starting on Wednesday; actually, it said that the brickies were on there way…
