Avocados at last

I've put some comments about the Samuel Barlow in a reply to a comment yesterday, so I won't repeat them here. In summary, we had a good meal, even though Paul the mad Aussie has gone. Sheila says that means the place has lost its USP but the food is still good and the move to using the upstairs bar in the evening is inspired. It's a lot lighter up there, and more spacious.

For the non medics and pharmacists amongst you who may be puzzled by the second half of my comment, acidosis means having a low blood pH (high acidity) and hypokalaemia is not having enough potassium in your blood. They are main effects of the Diamox, so not likely to improve until I stop taking it.

Oh joy.

Today's been good, though the smog has formed a layer of low cloud which keeps the temperature down. We've boated through to Fazeley, topped up the water tank at Peel's Wharf and carried on to our usual mooring at Sutton Road Bridge.

A quick trip to Sainsbury's after lunch found a range of avocados, hooray. One of the positives about the low potassium is the need to eat lots of high potassium foods like bananas, mangoes and avocados, yum.

Tomorrow, on to Huddlesford Junction, I think, then Alrewas the day after and we're nearly home. I've ordered an Ocado delivery for Tuesday just in case the wind is too bad on Sunday to re-enter the marina.

Thanks for the info about the Sam Barlow and good that t has kept the same menu. I understood that although Paul was not the owner, he was going to be in the spring of this year (don't know what was special about this spring) but a few months ago he was told the deal was off so he left.
