Settling in back home

Gosh, are we glad we moved all the way home yesterday! It's rained off and on all day today, and is presently chucking it down, whereas the rain just never showed up yesterday. Coming back into Mercia really felt like coming home; that's the first time it's been like that. We must be getting old and sentimental.

As may be imagined, we've been getting on with catching up with stuff. Sheila in particular has been working very hard. Knowing that we'd be here soon, she's allowed the laundry to collect, especially the once a week stuff like the towels. So today she's been shuttling back and forth to the tumble driers in the facilities block whilst running load after load in the washing machine in the boat.

I've had rather less to do; there are a number of outside jobs to be done when I can, but today's not been the day for them.

We did manage a walk round the marina this afternoon, dodging between the rain showers. We had a look in the lodge which is in excellent condition, though the Hebe plants outside will need replacing. Seemingly, Hebe is to bunnies what catnip is to pussies. We've put a couple more jigsaws in there, kindly donated by Peter and Janet from the other Sanity.

On the way back we looked in at the office and were promptly presented with two bills, rates and electricity, and a form to complete confirming that we want to become residential moorers.

The Boardwalk is growing; today was not the day to take photos, but I'll try and get some soon.

Tomorrow, an Ocado delivery then Sheila is heading into the village to get her hair cut. On Wednesday we hope to have a visit from that nice Mr Mason who builds such fine boats. Peter is half Norwegian; I must tell him about the fact I learnt from the Independent today. Norwegian TV once ran a twelve hour discussion programme about the virtues of different kinds of firewood. That goes quite well with the datum that 95% of Norwegian traffic accidents involve elks.
