Early today

We'll be out all afternoon having our photos taken; Elanor bought a special offer at Crick for a family photo with dog at a photographers in Derby and today's the day. So I thought I'd get this post done early…

It's been a productive day already, with Sheila nearly catching up with the laundry and your correspondent going up to the lodge to sort a wobbly loo seat. It just demonstrates the value of having moved the boat over here – I wasn't sure if a basic Allen key would do the job or if I'd need something fancier from the socket set. If Sanity Again had still been tied on Grebe, I would have had to lug the socket set round just in case.

As it was, I took the set of Allen keys, knowing that I could always nip back for the sockets if I needed them. In the event, the Allen key was more than equal to the task.

I promised a photo of the Poppy Walk at the Arboretum, so here it is:

The wildflower meadow at Mercia has a way to go to rival this, but it's early days. This shot does show the challenge of avoiding the area becoming swamped by grass and the more aggressive plants, mind. I'm not sure what the answer is, apart from taking care not to make the ground too fertile.

See you tomorrow!
