A Marpelous day

Sorry, couldn't resist it. Spending too much time in the cabin, probably.

Mind you, we've done two trips into town apiece, the first the main shopping trip. Bread, a replacement saucer to go under the mint, the original having blown away, and my newly stretched ring were all obtained. Oh and some better loo rolls, the recycled ones from Waitrose having proven too flimsy for comfort. Shame we'd bought nine of them. Oh well, they'll come in handy for mopping up spills and the last damp in the bilges.

After coffee, Sheila went back to get her hair cut and I to see if the butcher had deigned to open. A lot of Marple shops are a bit casual about getting going in the morning, especially on a Wednesday. The butcher's shutter was still firmly down at half ten, so Iceland got my trade instead, chicken fillets, some lean steak mince and a couple of breaded fish fillets, like oversize round fish fingers, to have with new potatoes and peas (also ìslenska) one day.

Back at the boat I put stuff away, replaced the handlamp bulb with one from an electrical shop in the precinct and then did some serious Indy perusal until Sheila got back just on lunchtime.

Since then, more fender has been made and the ceiling wash completed, as was the Indy, including its concise crossword.

We've been entertained and alarmed in equal measure by some tree surgeons (there were indeed three of them) raising the crown of an offside sycamore with merry cries and shouts. We thought for a while that they were going to take the whole thing down, but no such luck.

Probably just as well, mind you. It was right opposite our back end.

Tomorrow, back to Poynton for a bit.

I'm so behind with blogs - writing my own and reading yours. Love the title - we're hoping for a marpelous day ourselves soon - we're headed that way but at such a snail's pace who knows when we'll get there :-)
