Straight back to Poynton

After a quiet night and a leisurely start, we set out on the last lap of this little jaunt just after half eight. I'd run the engine and central heating from eight o'clock on, as Sheila wanted to fit in a washload en route.

It was a pretty uneventful run; water levels are still well down, but the Macc is much better dredged than the Upper Peak Forest so no real problems were encountered. Arriving at Poynton 90 minutes later, we stopped on the water point for a top up.

Dolce Far Niente was tied on the hire boat mooring and we had time for a quick natter with Stephen before I lifted the engine boards to check the state of the stern gland. I'd just had time to satisfy myself that it was now warm rather than hot when Peter Mason turned up with the same errand in mind.

Strangely, the space we'd left last week was still there on the Deeps; very convenient. We tied and went back to have the first of what will be many hot drinks at the Trading Post with Stephen and Jayne.

Finally tearing ourselves away from all the gossip, we next called in at the bungalow to collect the post (the other half of my prescription) and to start thinking about arrangements for the Open Day and Owners' Weekend. We can't make firm decisions yet, of course, but it always helps to give some early thought to what decisions are needed.

CRT have agreed to us using a section of the Deeps moorings again, so tomorrow we'll put up some signs giving folk fair warning. As these are 14 day moorings, people need to know in good time that they will be suspended from the 4th to the 7th of September.

We won't be using anything like the full length of the moorings; there will still be room for casual moorers further along.

Also tomorrow, a trip into Poynton first thing then more hot choc, I suspect.
