We got to the south portal of Harecastle in good time, having set off just after seven and arriving at twenty past eight. The tunnel keeper recognised us: “It's Sanity Again, again!”. We've long since lost count of how many times we've been through, but it must be more than twenty. We'd just missed the first convoy, so had to wait for a bit over an hour. In compensation, we were the lead boat of the second convoy and Sheila didn't have to breathe the exhaust of a boat in front.
She made an excellent job of getting out of the tunnel (not always easy in a deep swimming 70 footer) and of the turn at the junction, achieving each in one smooth move without reversing.
The Macc is much quieter than the T&M; it seems to be a year for everyone doing the Four Counties. We've tied just above the stop lock. It's turned out nice again, as they say up north, although the threat of rain hasn't wholly receded.
We'd had to fill the well deck with the flower troughs, of course, so Sheila's taken the opportunity to give them a good dead heading before putting them back on a freshly swept roof.
Meanwhile, I did a bit more fender, finishing one end and setting up the other for the final effort.
That all done, we had a relaxed cup of tea on the bow.
Finally, hi to the crew of Swansong Too who just passed by. It's knowing that folk like you are reading these witterings that keeps me going! In the same vein, thanks to Sarah aka Greygal for your comment yesterday.
Ah surely do ’preciate it, ma'am, Ah surely do. Now y'all take care, yuh hear?

Bird walking on Sunday, Sheila .... we'll miss you! I'll let you know if we see the fish eagle again. And, Bruce, I too enjoy my daily dose of Napier.
Hi both
Talking of birds...We're not twitchers so it means nothing to us but we've seen lots of chaps hereabouts (secret location on G&S) getting excited about a cattle egret, which has been visiting recently.
Rest assured that you are ALWAYS my first port of blog call.

Sarah
Thanks both. It's so good to have such loyal yet undemanding supporters!
All the very best
Bruce
