After a misty or even foggy start this morning, it's been a very pleasant day. The forecast did show a 20% risk of a shower, though, so we decided to leave the gunwale painting until tomorrow, when it's even less likely to rain. (Yes, I know, I'm tempting fate.)
Instead,we took in an Ocado delivery early, cheerfully supplied by Laurence in the Lemon Van (you have to be an Ocado customer to follow all of that.) He was very apologetic about the fact that two items were missing, including my Fursty Ferret, sob, and two had been subbed.
It seems Ocado are a victim of their own success at the moment. The new hub at Tamworth isn't coming on line until February, and the existing one at Hatfield is just overloaded. This must be a real problem for them; Tesco are mounting a serious assault on the on-line market by opening another three dark stores (ie ones that just do online sales) and they're having to compete directly with Waitrose in their stronghold inside the M25.
Hopefully they can hang on until Tamworth gets going.
Apart from the acknowledged missing items, it was all present and correct, and soon put away.
After coffee, Sheila cleaned the Ecofan, which had got very dusty. The fan doesn't work so well with muck insulating its cooling fins, so it's a good idea to give it a good going over from time to time.
After lunch, we tackled the engine bilge. All the water was extracted from the stern bilge, from below the stern gland, and the disposable nappies that soak up any condensation were changed in the other sections. We even cleaned and vacuumed the top of the engine itself, where it gets mucky from stuff finding its way through the joins in the engine boards.
So it all looks much tidier now.
Oh, and I've designed a new emoticon to represent Sally's licky tongue:
{:-9
Tomorrow, we'll have a go at the gunwale, as I say, and Elanor and Sally are coming across in the afternoon and staying for dinner.
