Mucky weather, good plan

Things went to plan today, which is always nice even if you're not Hannibal Smith, but the weather has been pretty discouraging of any other outdoor activity.

Just after nine we backed Sanity Again off her pontoon and chugged round to the service wharf where I backed her onto the side mooring. Here we pumped out and Sheila made a couple of phone calls, one to the Marina office, which had just opened at half nine, and one to the Still Waters shop.

As a result, first Mike from the shop appeared and supplied us with 13kg of propane, and then Tony from the office arrived and pumped 115 litres of diesel into the fuel tank. With Sanity Again set up for another few weeks of habitation, we returned to our pontoon, Grebe 4. I'm pleased to say I did a better job of turning into it this time, despite a tricky little wind trying to blow us down onto it, and the start of some really quite nasty chilly drizzle.

Once we were all tied up and sorted, I popped round to the office and the shop to settle up, taking care to buy a fresh pump out token at the same time. It's not the cheapest diesel or gas on the system, but we prefer to deal with the place we're moored in rather than leave the marina just to save a few pence per litre or kilo.

We've spent most of the rest of the day on the boat. Sheila's been working on her book, and I captured a couple of recipes for mine.

This afternoon the rain had stopped, so we ventured out for a walk round, just to get fresh air and reduce the risk of dozing off.

Tomorrow we're dog sitting again, and Wednesday I'm getting a lift into Alrewas for my nurse appointment. The weather is forecast to stay pretty much like this until Friday, when it's going to turn a lot colder, seemingly.
