Finally Friday

It's been just like being back at work… well sort of. Getting up in time to be collected at nine and then doing a couple of hours work decorating isn't exactly high pressure, I know, but it was still quite strange to be doing it.

No matter, we got a good bit done, even if not quite as much as we'd hoped (well, there's a change) and Elanor can see her way clear to finishing off, with possibly one more day's input from me. The bathroom already looks better for it, and sundry other jobs have got done as well.

It became apparent that at one stage in the house's life, the 5' by 6' bathroom had had purple walls and a pink ceiling, with possibly green or gold architraves round the brown doors.

/blur.

After lunch, Elanor ran me across to Barton Marina, where I raided the Butcher, the Baker and the Ice Cream Maker for meat for the weekend and early next week. Amongst other stuff, I bought a "Gentleman's Roast" which consists of a piece of pork fillet coated in sage and onion stuffing and then wrapped in a piece of beef chine. It should make an interesting Sunday lunch. There's to be a BBICM shop in the peninsula development here at Mercia next year, which will be very handy indeed.

Back at the marina, we took Sally for a run in the field. Sal is feeling pretty weary as well; she normally spends the weekdays kipping in her room whilst Elanor is at work, but has been bustling about supervising us all this week, of course.

During the morning, Sheila took in an Ocado delivery. For the first time ever for Ocado, we had a less than cheerful driver, who complained about having to bring the crates down to the boat: "I can't believe I'm doing this" he said. Ocado now ask you to rate the driver after the delivery, so he'll only be getting three stars, I reckon.

Not a lot is going to get done tomorrow – definitely a day for a lie in.
