Another lazy start today, with much pottering in the boat, if not the marsh. (Oh no, that was Much Binding in the Marsh, of course. Oh, I say, I am a fool!)
We'd decided we needed to use up a couple of bread kits, so Sheila made up a batch of sun dried tomato and parmesan dough, which we converted to eight petit pains style buns. After about 90 minutes proving, they were ready to bake, and came out of the oven just a quarter of an hour before lunchtime.
This had the happy consequence that we had warm bread for our lunchtime sandwiches, oh happy day. Unlike Yvonne on Fizzical Attraction, we don't regularly make our own bread; we keep the kits as emergency supplies when cruising. There's one left now, and we'll aim to use that up quite soon, not getting any more until the spring.
I finished the work on the business cards for our friend, and printed them off; the micro perforation card stock is very good for this. The result isn't quite as impressive as professionally printed ones, of course, but fit for casual use in this sort of situation; he's not aiming to build up a major business, just to let folk know that a handy man is available for minor jobs around the place.
This afternoon's Walking for Health expedition was to… Mercia Marina. From Willington car park we walked along the towpath to the bridge by the Nadee Restaurant, then back along the road to the marina, where we had tea in the Willow Tree. Next week's trip will be similar, going straight to the marina, then walking right round.
After tea, we popped into the office to check that this would be OK, and had a very welcoming reception; Robert Neff, the marina manager, heartily approves of the aims of the group.
It'll be a quiet evening again; tomorrow, we'll need to pop into the village to collect my prescription from the pharmacy, but there's nothing else planned.

Hi
Always read and enjoy the blog. I use Sigel 3C business cards (available online code is LP796). They are very good and peel off the backing so give a perfectly smooth edge.
Have had a number of lovely canal holidays and now enjoy the canals vicariously through blogs and by walking the towpaths near Daventry where we live!
Hi Sue
Glad you like the blog – I'm always slightly amazed that anyone pays attention to my witterings, especially in the winter.
Thanks for the tip about business card stock – I'll give them a try next time we need to restock.
All the best
Bruce
