Productive Saturday

We're keeping going despite our colds – Sheila's been affected much more than I have, but at least gets some relief whilst she's up and about. It's when she's trying to sleep that it's a real problem. I had a bad night last night, too, so we've rather been staggering around today.

Nonetheless, we got a lot done, especially this morning. When I collected the paper I ordered some coal to be delivered (there's a mere £2 to pay to have the bags lugged to your boat), and when we went into the village, the pharmacy admitted they'd just missed out on my eye drops. I've never known that happen before; I was just checking with them prior to getting another prescription from the surgery.

No problem, they made up the extra item whilst we were doing other stuff. This included a walk to Betty's Farm, where we bought some meat for the weekend and early next week, and ordered our Christmas turkey and beef. Then it was into the Co-op to collect our Amazon parcel (no problem with that) and to the Post Office for more envelopes.

Back to the pharmacy for the drops and we were all done. We were very glad to get back to the boat and unload the stuff before lunch. Our neighbours are busy moving their belongings into Kilcharrah; they are having the same experience we've all had, wondering where on earth to put everything.

Elanor and Sally showed up just as we'd finished scoffing, so I went with them to the field to run Sally's excess energy off. She had quite a bit today, but we got her puffed out in the end. Elanor then gave us a hand looking over the outstanding quiz clues, though she was only able to confirm a couple of our guesses. Since then, Sheila has cracked another one by sheer determination, so there's just three to do now.

I think we've pretty well finished the gift shopping, too, though there's still the calendar and cards to create and print off.

It looks like the weather for next week is going to be as ferocious as was adumbrated; I see the media have christened it the "Beast from the East" so it looks like that coal will be put to good use.

Finally, many condolences to Sue and Richard of the Indigo Dreaming blog. Their greyhound Lou finally lost her battle with a rare lymphoma this morning. The writing's been on the wall for the last few days, but it must still have been a bitter blow to have to let her go.

Our thoughts are with them.
