This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

A day for lurking indoors
The forecast was for a wet and windy day and that was surely what we had. Fortunately, we didn’t have any reason to get up or go out early, so it was a case of ambling gently through the start of the day.
When I finally made it to the shop, in a spell of better conditions, it was only to find that the Independent hadn’t made it. Indeed, it still hasn’t turned up; seemingly other papers were delayed yesterday. Surely this can’t be blamed on the weather yet?
Heigh ho, a fair amount of pottering took place during the morning, finishing with a brisk walk round the marina; although now dry, a bitter wind was still blowing. We stopped off in the office to discuss some aspects of the development of the Walnut Lodge web page with Jules, then returned to the boat briefly before heading back to the Willow Tree for our team lunch with Stephen and Jayne.
That was a great pleasure as always and we’re looking forward to tonight’s quiz session.
Sadly, family concerns mean that John and Nev won’t be able to see us tomorrow after all – we have to hope that they’ll be able to make it later in the winter.
I’ve also finally managed to do some beta testing on the CRT’s new stoppage pages, or Notices as they are going to be called. One of the points I’ve made is that it will take a while to train boaters to look for “Notices” when they’re thinking “Stoppages”. The point is, of course, that the notices for quite a while now have covered a variety of other boating relevant info like delays or events on the cut that might affect navigation.
It’s certainly going to be an improvement on the present Waterscape site, with mapping updated in real time as well as written info; they are expected to go live quite soon now.
And that’s about it for today; hopefully tomorrow's weather will be better and we’ll get more time outside.
