This blog is about life on board our narrowboat Sanity Again, cruising the inland waterways of the UK (mainly in the spring, summer and autumn) and living in a marina in the winter. It's the way I choose to write it; if you don't like it, there are many other boating blogs.

A lazy Saturday
I had a rather broken night full of weird dreams last night, no idea why; it can’t have been the excellent chump chops we had from the Betty’s Farm butchery. Heigh ho, at least we were scheduled to have a lie in this morning and did so.
Finally getting airborne at around nine, we’d heard fellow Braidbar owner and blogger Adam Porter doing a news piece on Radio 4 about the virtues of walking exercise for the over 60s. It’s good to know that we’re doing something right; it seems one hour per day reduces your chance of stroke and it doesn’t even have to be very vigourous.
Thanks Adam, just what we wanted to hear.
It’s been a pottering sort of day all round, really, playing still further with the iPad and the like.
We walked into the village this morning (half an hour total) for bread and stuff and round the marina this afternoon (another half hour, about). We’ve caught up on the goss with Stephen and Jayne as we went round, and generally had a pleasant time.
Tonight, we’re having a turkey roast as I get into practice for Christmas. It’s one from Ocado, the only one they do, a boned and rolled job. EDIT: I've just been browsing around the Ocado site again, and there are now lots of different turkeys available; must be the approach to Thanksgiving as lots of them say "Available for Thanksgiving" on the product list.
Tomorrow, Elanor and Sally are coming over just after lunch to collect the pressure washer and we may be able to give Sal a run in one of the fields which doesn’t have white woolly things next door.

Trouble is, if you want to reduce your risk of stroke by two-thirds, you have to walk 22 hours a week. 22 hours! There'd be no time for anything else...
