Calm between storms

Many thanks to Sally for her contribution yesterday; Elanor tells me she’s been very glad to get her head down all day today, so at least one of them was pleased to see Elanor go back to work...

:))

We’ve had a very pleasant post New Year day today, with bright sunshine after being kept indoors by the wind and rain yesterday. Walking round the marina this morning we spotted that a couple of ridge tiles had lifted on the lodge; apparently they don’t achieve full fixity of attachment until after the summer sun has encouraged the bitumen to coagulate between the tiles.

They’ll have been fixed back down with mastic by now, hopefully; we walked to the village this afternoon rather than round the marina again so we haven’t checked, but we trust the marina to do what they promised.

This afternoon I finally got round to doing the end of the month battery check; as usual when we’re on the shoreline, there was very little top up needed, though the disposable nappies in the bilges alongside the swims had been earning their keep absorbing condensation and needed changing.

We’re still living on the huge pan of soup I made from the turkey and beef stock; it makes for an easy life both in terms of preparing dinner and washing up after whilst we recover from the excitements of Christmas.

It looks like it’s going to be dirty weather again tomorrow, though with luck there will be enough breaks to let us get some exercise; in addition, we’ll take the chance to watch the Trial by Jury half of Sheila’s DVD of Opera Australia doing G&S.
