And that's what we did.
The water pressure was in Fradley mode, that is filling the tank right up gives you time to learn Esperanto or to become a Zen master, so we settled for getting it three quarters full and set off just after nine. It was Sheila's turn to steer and she made a near perfect turn through the junction and into the lock which I had ready for her.
We crossed with several boats on the way down, all hands being cheerful and friendly on a day which, whilst not as warm as recently, was still extremely pleasant. There was room for us on the moorings above Bagnall Lock, so we stopped there rather than take a chance on finding a space in the village.
As it happens, we could have carried on down, as a walk along the towpath after lunch demonstrated, but it's quieter up here and more open. With any luck we'll get enough sun on the panel tomorrow to save running the engine.
