A good day for doing stuff

It was tipping it down this morning when the central heating started up at eight, so it was all too easy to snuggle back under the duvet for a bit longer. We did finally surface before the Today programme had finished, but only just...

After a bit of constructive pottering whilst the rain poured down – making more yogurt, downloading the paper, stuff like that – we took advantage of a drier spell to wander over to the Farm Shop, buy milk and bread and order some pig's liver for tomorrow.

Then back to the boat for lunch and a bit of a doze by which time the sun had actually emerged and it was a fine afternoon. We had a proper walk round the marina, including a circuit of the sensory garden. This enlivened us sufficiently to finish off something we'd started in the morning; sorting and printing some more photos of the lodges and laminating them for use on the stand at the Christmas Fayre at the end of this month.

This proved to be a bit more hassle than we were expecting. First off the colour print cartridge gave up the ghost (I keep a replacement in stock, so no big problem) then the fancy paper the marina office had supplied proved to be very poor in combination with our inkjet. Fortunately, we had a good stock of 125 gm bright white paper of our own that did the job a treat.

Finally, the laminator started sulking about using our heavy pouches; it's not been a bother until now, but the combination of the heavy-ish paper and the thick pouches was a bit much. The office had given us some lighter pouches and these went through no bother.

So we've ended up with a dozen decent looking laminated photos of the lodge interiors. All we need to do now is print out the teaser texts that we distribute between the photos on the display boards, suggesting reasons why you might want to buy or rent a lodge.

Earlier on, I'd phoned Elite Furnishings who make chairs and sofas especially for narrowboats. It looks like we might get to visit their showroom at Tamworth tomorrow to have a sit in some of their products, courtesy of Elanor's taxi service.
